Rooke takes us around Churchgate, the old village centre of Cheshunt.
A nucleus of fine old buildings still surrounds the parish church,
although others have disappeared. We consider the origins of the
village near the Roman road, centred on the church and three nearby
manor houses; We explore the 17th century Dewhurst St Mary School
and the complicated history of Bishops' College. The video features
the history of many past and present buildings including the Parish
Church, Cheshunt Great House, and we enjoy the beauty of Whit
Hern Park.
